Tanghulu (糖葫芦) is a
famous traditional dessert from Northern
China. It is made by skewering fresh
fruit on bamboo sticks and coating it
with boiled sugar, which hardens into a
glossy, crispy shell. The sweet, crunchy
coating pairs perfectly with the fresh
fruit's natural tartness.
As
part of the Golden Chopsticks Club
activities, students learned about
Chinese culture while gaining hands-on
experience in making this traditional
dessert from the People's Republic
of China.
